Directions & Access

Therapies and Sessions

I provide integrative counselling therapy, Life coaching and Hypnotherapy services.

My work includes long and short term therapy within a private practice.

* All types of therapy sessions will require an initial consultation appointment. This is to ensure a therapy programme is mutually agreeable that will help you achieve your desired outcome.

Types of sessions

I provide one to one therapy and couples therapy.

Sessions are Face to face (Recommended). Online sessions are also available.

During online sessions to ensure a safe environment and to limit distractions, client’s are asked to find a quiet and relaxed place and to ensure phones are switched off.

Walk and Talk therapy is an alternative type of session available for adults individual therapy.
This therapy style works well within a life coaching and mentoring approach to help support health & well-being. This therapy style can be available following the initial consultation and face to face sessions.

All Sessions

  1. Client confidentiality
My therapy room is a place for clients to feel comfortable in and trust anything that is discussed is held in complete confidentiality. As a counsellor I adhere to code of ethics, BPS, IAPC&M and GHSC. The only exception to breach a clients confidentiality would be if a client were to give me reason to believe that they will cause other people harm or themselves. Within this context, I will take the appropriate action on advice from my supervisory body. If there is a need to break a client’s confidentiality this would be discussed with the client first.
    * Client’s confidentiality for therapy outdoors.
To overcome the issue of an unlikely event of seeing someone familiar during a walk and talk therapy session, we can have an agreed phrase to pause conversation. This is so, professional boundaries are maintained for the work in emotional safety and integrity.
  2. Commitment to Therapy & Business of Contract of Care
I will go through the contract of care and commitment to therapy, being business & therapeutic which is mutually agreed upon. This is established following the initial consultation and session discussion. The importance of the consultation is so you can make an informed decision whether the therapy process is right for you.
  3. How many Sessions.  I can work with clients on either short term or longer term basis. The amount of sessions required is dependent on the type of concern and client’s current well being. Some issues and some people may need or prefer longer term therapy. I suggest 4-6 sessions, as usually clients can start to feel and see a change within this time frame. Equally, depending on the nature of your concerns and background, we can re-evaluate the sessions to how you are feeling within the process. For instance, whether a couple of sessions has helped or if you would like to complete the full 4-6 sessions or whether you need further support and sessions.

Initial consultation session
Initial assessment sessions are charged at the full rate. The consultation session is longer as I carry out an assessment of basic details, background and medical history. The aim of carrying out this assessment is to have a comprehensive understanding of your concerns and history to ensure that you receive appropriate counsel. The initial assessment also offers you the opportunity to ask questions and decide what is right for you. I value the initial session and time as most important as the assessment provides a gentle way for you to feel at ease, while allowing us the opportunity to meet in person which is key for a successful therapy experience and therapeutic alliance between the client and therapist.

Individual Therapy Sessions
All individual sessions are 50-60 minutes. Therapy programmes can be on a short term or longer term basis.

Couples Therapy Sessions
All couples sessions are up to 90 minutes and consist of 6 sessions in total.
Sessions One & Two: Couples appointments and the first session includes the consultation appointment.

Two of these 6 sessions (session 3 & 4) will involve each partner having an individual therapy session.

Client’s appreciation feedback

I found my sessions very eye opening and it made me reflect on life differently
Thank you Caroline

Our sessions with Julie were very productive. My wife and I felt we were both able to have our different points of views heard. Also to share our suppressed feelings with the help and guide of thought provoking questions lead by Julie. Kevin & Louise

Julie is really easy to talk to and I enjoyed our conversations, I found my hypnosis sessions very helpful and interesting as Julie based it on my favourite role model.  Alex (14 yrs)

From my first meeting, Julie immediately made me feel relaxed and at ease. The conversations came very naturally and I felt comfortable with all the different techniques used during my sessions. I feel Julie has a deep passion and knowledge for her counselling which was positively reflected in my session experiences.  Appreciated by Laura

My Counselling sessions with Julie were dealt with in a comfortable manner and helped enormously with my long standing issues. Her listening technique and knowledge of ways forward gave me confidence to deal with and help resolve my problems. I have continued to consult her periodically and have every confidence in Julie’s ability to make a difference to one’s ability to resolve problems. Katherine
