Hi, my name is Julie, founder of The Christopher Jeffrey Therapy Clinic.

The Christopher Jeffrey Therapy Clinic is based in a beautiful historic building and calming setting at ‘The Grange’ in Morden. The Grange was originally a stuccoed villa and has recently been restored and newly refurbished and converted into offices and private rooms.

The therapy room is very much a ‘sanctuary’, a safe place for you to feel welcome and relaxed, while providing you with a warm and empathetic environment. The emphasis being that you, as a client, can feel comfortable within a trusted, confidential and non-judgemental atmosphere as you share your individual concerns with a professional. The clinic’s ethos is based on a humanistic approach and experience of self -development through personal adversity, life experiences and personal growth. The value of a humanistic therapy style and open approach empathises with people’s experiences and this helps the therapeutic relationship connect when working through client’s concerns and situations.

As an integrative hypnotherapist and life coach having accredited integrative advanced counselling, life coaching and hypnosis skills allows my work to use several therapy principles and specific types of techniques, strategies and tools. This allows flexibility and choice within the sessions that can be tailor made to suit you and your needs, while considering personality of the individual and the nature of concern and desired outcome. Equally the unique value of providing hypnotherapy that can further support conversational work as well as applying positive psychology and life coaching principles to inspire you to attain your goals and aspirations.

The professional foundation and psychological principles used at the clinic are established from having a psychology and research degree that considers social, cognitive and behavioural perspectives as well as the possible biological causes of behaviours and the mind. This provides an understanding of mental health, relationships and social context, as well as an appreciation of attachment style theories and how these relate to personal relationships. My retrospective research into the lives and long-term effects of WW2 evacuees experiences and how this shaped and affected their developmental life span gave me an understanding for post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD) and attachments.

Julie Hawes

Clinical experience has developed when working in Indonesia as a ‘Mental Health Care Support Worker’, where I gained cross cultural perspectives and insight through running therapeutic activities within the cultural communities. Working with the service users within psychiatric hospitals in Java, as well as helping children and young adults with special needs within schools and communities in Bali was valuable.

I am interested in hearing your concerns and am here to listen to you. I am passionate about helping you so you can make informed decisions towards resolving your problem and its outcome. Alternatively, helping you to manage your concern differently or aiming to take positive action to change your life and well-being. I will help you with supportive interactive therapy and counsel based on integrative counselling techniques as well as holistic value that meditation, mindfulness and hypnotherapy can bring.

I understand that making that first call is not easy and can feel overwhelming but I assure you that your call is important to me as I am here to help you.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kindest wishes

Julie

The Client’s Therapy Experience

What a Client can expect in their session and How I can help you

How we make meaning of our emotions and responses reflects our moods and is indicated by a cycle of thoughts, emotions, behaviours and physiology. Our feelings and responses can influence our mind and body states, our relationships past and present and our lifestyles. These outcomes can also affect our choices and decision-making which can keep us stuck in situations and negativity.

As a therapist, I understand your emotions and thoughts are valid and real to you. What you experience are feelings that are based on a thought, an idea, a perspective, an opinion or a belief which may be distorted rather than a fact. When exploring and gaining more of an insight to your thought processes and where they stem from and what triggers them is to start making sense of a situation or a feeling you need to change, maybe a need that you are missing or a mistaken belief that you have inherited.

During therapy it is important that we learn to understand ourselves and having self compassion is okay too. From this it follows that perfection is unrealistic and in fact being ‘flawed’ is being human. This insight enables us to reconsider perspectives of others and their idiosyncrasies as well as our own. Therefore when gaining a new understanding and considering a different view this will enable you to feel and become confident about the choices you wish to make to bring change in your life.

My role is to help you explore your thoughts and emotions regarding a problem or situation that you are struggling with and how this is affecting your everyday life and mental well being. Sometimes we need to make sense of what we need to change and how it can be resolved. This can be explored in your sessions with supportive integrative counselling and therapeutic interventions that will help you work through your situation and achieve your desired outcome. Further you can learn how to maintain any changes, as. the value in understanding these new ways to manage your mindset will be effective for continued well being and personal growth.
